This past weekend was heavenly! Not only did Gabe and I get to share our good news with EVERYBODY finally...but we got to spend relaxing, stress-free time alone with no responsibilities.

We drove about an hour away from our house to the JW Marriott Desert Ridge and checked in about 4:30pm. We spent a few minutes admiring the view from our room off of our patio. We had sights on the main action area where all of the restaurants are located as well as a full view of the pools and lazy river. It was perfect, slightly windy weather so we headed down to the pool for a few laps around the lazy river. Gabe pushed me around in our double tube (I'm so spoiled) as I sipped on my pineapple flavored ice water. The sun was starting to go down and we had dinner plans at 7:30 so we took our time getting out of the river, air-drying on the lawn chairs, and walking back up to our room.

After our shower, Gabe found some super comfy robes so we had to take silly pictures in them, of course!

We also took silly pictures after we decided on an outfit for our dinner out because we are just silly. Always. Nonstop. And we love it!

Dinner was at Meritage, an Urban Tavern and it was VERY good. Gabe's meal consisted of a medium filet mignon over heirloom potatoes, fresh vegetables and shaved asparagus (yes, shaved...?) with a fantastic charred flavor. My meal was day boat scallops over a pea puree, pork belly, arugula and shallots which was exquisite! Needless to say, our plates were near licked and I have no idea why we ordered dessert...

A dark chocolate espresso cake that I took four bites of. But it was delish!

After dinner, we walked about 1/2 mile back to our room which proved much needed to walk off all those calories we had just consumed. The evening was finished off with an episode of Law and Order: SVU and we passed out to refresh ourselves for golfing the next morning.

Breakfast was Starbucks plain bagels and cream cheese and a reduced-fat cinnamon swirl coffee cake for the mama of two hungry boys. We had no idea what we were getting into when we walked up to the check-in tent for the golf course and man did we look NEW! Luckily, we were paired with a couple friendly older women for the duration of the course, and I kicked Gabe's booty. I must be a natural at golf ;)

Gabe is hoping to make a hobby out of golfing together and I couldn't be more happy to play a sport with my love consistently.

Here's to many more small, memorable getaways with my husband! CHEERS!
