SURPRISE!!

One month ago today, Gabe and I were staring at an ultrasound screen watching our baby's heart beat at 154 BPM. Not long after learning of it's healthy progression, the nurse said she wanted to "show us something." Before we had time to process the possible meanings of her words, we were staring at two small blobs, with TWO beating hearts. As much of a surprise as this was, its not the biggest surprise of the past few months.

As of yesterday at 3:35 PM, Gabe has been tasked with serving a one-year tour overseas, with an estimated departure date of September 5th. Yeah. As sad as I am, this is what he needs! He's been waiting to leave Arizona for almost SEVEN years. For that reason, I am happy for him and for our future.

So I decided to start a blog. I already had intentions to create a website for family and friends to follow the twins' life from birth and beyond but now I can have a hobby I thoroughly enjoy while I raise two kids without their father present for the first year of their lives.

Here we go.
